SlowLane Guitars is proud to be a member of NAMM and we had a very successful first time attending. I was the representative from SLG. What an amazing experience! Nearly very manufacturer in the music industry was there showing off what is new for 2014. As new members we really had no idea what to expect. Since we didn’t have a display booth, our mission was simply to make personal contact with as many key individuals as we could from the companies that we were hoping to add to the MDA guitars team for parts and expertise for our 2014 and 2015 season as well.

As I got ready to go and on the flight down, I thought man what a monumental task I’ve gotten myself into. There were approximately 300 vendors there and I had three days to try and make contact with all of them. It wasn’t long on my first day after my first few contacts where I could talk about SlowLane Guitars and our connection with the MDA. As I talked about the quality of the guitars and our website, the people whom I approached stopped and listened to what I had to say. Suddenly, my apprehension had quickly turned into a high level of confidence. Everyone I was able to speak with was literally blown away by what we have created and what we are doing with the guitars to bring awareness to the MDA and those afflicted with one of the forty-seven different types of Muscular Dystrophy.

The fact that this program was founded by my friend Dennis Kalkowski, who is an MDA client, was even more impressive. The website, slowlaneguitars.com was the show stopper that helped me gain the interest from a multitude of companies who have since committed to joining the MDA guitar team as a result of my connection with them.

Some of the companies are Babicz Full Contact bridges, Hipshot Products who make hardtail and tremolo bridges as well as tuners. Highly sought after Lace and Bartolini boutique pickups, Bill Lawrence pickups and D’Addario strings. All of these companies will be great additions to the variations of hardware and electronics that we will use in our design process for future. Overall the trip far exceeded my expectations. We made a great number of friends and contacts. For those reading this, we hope to do the same with you. Please go to slowlaneguitars.com and check out our awesome selection of handcrafted guitars.
